Ichthyosaurus Stenopterygius quadriscissus
195x55x5 cm; ca. 100 kg
Holzmaden; Lias Epsilon II/5 (Unterer Stein)

This is the one of a hundred, very complete specimen, enbedded in the original matrix!
Undoubtlly the most spectacular Ichthyosaur we offered so far. It has museum quality and comes with an expert report from the Hauff Urwelt-Museum evaluating the fossil.
Bernhard Hauff gave the hint, appraising the Ichthyo, that there are several bite marks visible at the front paddles, when it was attacked by a persecutor, what makes this specimen even more special.
With a length of 195 cm it is not an adult specimen (becoming up to many meters), so it still handable (two persons are able to carry it). The plate is quite stable, with mounds on back ready for wall hanging.

In comparison: For another complete but composed and inserted Ichthyosaur, usually offered by resellers, you will typically pay 30k plus. Located close to Holzmaden, avoiding resellers, we are able to offer a museum quality specimen at significantly less, making this offer an excellent investment. Pieces like that are offered rarely and will get less in the future as quarries close one to the next.

Ichthyosaurus quadriscissus
100x63x6 cm; 50 kg
Holzmaden

Offered on behalf of a collector friend and professionally skilled preparator is this outstanding Ichthyosaur . A near complete specimen, enbedded in the original matrix, not inserted into another plate, no composite, restauration less than 1%. This is quite uncommon in a market, dominated by neat but scientifically worthless "prestigeous fossils". Bones and teeth preserved in a quality that stands the critical examination by glasses. The fossil comes from Holzmaden/Ohmden, definitely not Dotternhausen, what explains, that there is no hint for alteration. Colour is stable, the specimen was exposed in an office room for several years. It comes with a stable steel fixing. Due to its stability it is also suitable for wall-hanging.

Steneosaurus bollensis
80x50x3.5 cm
Holzmaden; Lias Epsilon II/6

Spectacular Crocodile skull at perfect condition, restauration close to zero percent - quite unusual. All teeth natural, no additions. Bones in oustanding preservation quality, windpipe rings lying beside. The fossil was found in this context (in situ, no composite) and transfered to a massive Fleins slab including wall-hanging mould.
Offering on behalf of a local collector at a reasonable price, significantly less than offered by international retailers or at big fossil shows, definitely a good investment.
Steneousaurus findings are much rare than Ichthyosaurus, approximately 1/20.
This is an outstanding, all natural, no composite fossil in stunning museum quality.
100% satisfaction garanteed, 14-day return policy, worldwide shipping.

Ichthyosaur Mixosaurus panxianesis

Ichthyosaurus Mixosaurus panxianesis in top condition
Matrix: 40 x 28 x 2 cm
Guizhou Province, China

Complete Ichthyosaur, in natural condition, excellent preservation and preparation - quite rare! Professionally prepared, excellent preserved teeth. Without fossil restauration, no fake!

Firstly described 2006 by Da-Yong Yiang et al. in the Journal of Vertebrate  Palaeontology as "A New Mixosaurid Ichthyosaur from the Middle Triassic of China" this is a close ancestor of the younger genus Stenopterygius, well known from Holzmaden.
Mixosaurus was a small to medium-sized Ichthyosaur grewing to about a meter in length. Its tail was elongated, the spine not bending down to support a crescent-shaped caudal fin like later Jurassic Ichthyosaurs. However, the tail may have had a fin hem on its upper side. The paddle-like limbs were made up of five toes each, unlike the three toes found in later Jurassic Ichthyosaurs. The pectoral fins were longer than the pelvic fins. The front teeth were pointed and sharp, the molars blunt. The large eyes were encased in small plates of bone.

Typically, Mixosaur panxianesis fossils that come to market are of suspect origin and unattractive quality. According to information from the owner, the present fossil was acquired before the export restrictions came into force for the first time in 1982. A confirmation from the owner will be attached to the sale. A photo in the unprepared state documents the initial state. The preparation was recently carried out (by experts outside China) properly using sandblasting technology. Supplements with epoxy affect the matrix in the marginal area for stabilization. The white calcite fillings are of natural origin.

This is the best example of this species we have seen so far and are happy to offer on behalf of the owner. Fossiland will provide you all the safety, including 100% satisfaction guaranteed, 14-day return policy and worldwide shipping on request.

We buy directly from collectors or offer on behalf of owners - both at fair prices with no dealers in between or overhead costs. This is why pieces offered by FOSSILAND are typically sold soon. So stay alert and
